When you follow a Game

Choosing Follow Game is a single opt-in to Email updates about the Games you select. You choose Important changes only or Everything worth knowing for each Game. Timing is “When it happens”; initial Email updates are prepared and sent by a Sourceborne operator, so this does not promise instant delivery.

Sourceborne records your Email address, selected Game Follows and preferences, the time and version of the consent text, and an anonymous browser/device Follower identifier. A Follower is a browser identity, not an account or a unique person. The same Email address can be used from more than one browser without merging their Game preferences.

How Email is sent initially

For a specific Game update, an authorised Sourceborne operator exports the current eligible audience and sends the Email using an external manual Email tool. Sourceborne filters the export against your current settings and global suppression, and includes one recipient row per Email address. The external tool is used for sending; Sourceborne remains the record of your Follow choices and suppression.

The operator must use the export for that update within 15 minutes, avoid adding other contacts, and delete local and import copies after sending. Sourceborne does not currently send these updates automatically through its own provider integration. There is no Push or Weekly delivery in this initial service.

Preferences, stopping and unsubscribe

On a browser that still has its Follower cookie, Following ✓ opens the Game preferences. You can change an Update Level or stop following one Game without changing another. Every manual Email must include a Sourceborne link to stop Email to that address across all its Game Follows. The confirmation page does not unsubscribe on a GET; the confirmation action does.

Unsubscribing places the Email address in Sourceborne’s global suppression state. A new ordinary Follow submission cannot silently remove that suppression. A direct request received by Sourceborne must also be recorded as global suppression before the next audience export.

Site measurement

Sourceborne records first-party page views, sessions, referrals and engagement to understand how visitors use the site. Follow activity can be associated with the existing first-party visit/session identity. Raw or masked Email addresses are not placed in the traffic and Follow analytics events.

Keeping records and contacting Sourceborne

Stopping one Follow does not erase its historical consent and preference record. Global suppression is retained so the address is excluded from later exports. Sourceborne’s raw visit/session maintenance uses a 400-day cutoff. Follow and suppression records do not have an automatic deletion schedule in this initial service.
