ARDEM’s public playtest will no longer take place on October 15, with developer Techtive Games saying the build needs more work on stability before it can be opened to players at the scale originally planned.
The studio confirmed the change in a new Steam announcement, Public Playtest Update: Stability First. No replacement date has been announced. Techtive says the test is still happening, but it will only commit to another date once it is confident it can meet it.
The same update also confirms that ARDEM’s Early Access launch has moved to 2027. Steam now lists the game for 2027, replacing the previous 2026 release window.
Techtive says the decision follows what it has learned from ARDEM’s ongoing closed tests. According to the studio, those tests showed that stability is not yet where it needs to be for the much larger public test it had planned.
“The build is growing well,” the developer said, but opening ARDEM to potentially hundreds of thousands of players requires more work on how its persistent multiplayer world performs under load. Techtive says the same concern is behind the move to a 2027 Early Access window.
That is a significant change from the plan announced in August.
At the time, Techtive said the closed test would begin in smaller waves before a public test on October 15, when everyone would be allowed in. The studio described that public test as the point that would determine how much work remained before Early Access.
The closed testing itself is not ending. Techtive says it will continue inviting players in deliberately small, targeted waves while development continues, rather than increasing the test population to the scale originally planned for October.
The developer also acknowledged that it had not communicated the limited number of places in those closed-test waves clearly enough.
There is now an unusual mismatch across ARDEM’s public-facing information. Techtive’s newer Steam announcement says October 15 is off, while its official website and public-playtest page were still showing October 15, 2026 when checked. Those older pages have therefore been superseded by the newer announcement.
Techtive has not given a new public-test date or narrowed Early Access beyond 2027.
The studio will, however, hold a live Q&A on its Discord on October 8 from 20:00 to 21:00 CEST, with Phillip, Dini and other members of the team taking questions about the playtest, the current state of ARDEM and what comes next.
For now, ARDEM’s next public test is delayed indefinitely, closed testing continues in smaller waves, and the game’s Early Access window has moved into 2027.
