ARDEM development timeline
ARDEM has changed substantially during development. Earlier public material described a hostile-AI/robot conflict; today's game is built around the RHAB-14 pandemic, Minnowa and a broader survival-sandbox identity. This timeline keeps those stages separate so old footage or articles are not mistaken for the current design. A14 A15 A01
What changed most during development
The premise
The 2023–24 AI-war setting is no longer the current game. Today's ARDEM centres on RHAB-14, Artificial Demography, the restless and post-collapse Minnowa. A14 A15 A01
Status: Historical / superseded premise.
The visual direction
Techtive's 2026 press kit explicitly presents a new visual style after more than three years of work. A03
The team and production scale
The project moved from a small alpha team toward a funded studio with a broader full-time team and dedicated disciplines. A12 A03
The testing strategy
The March plan for a broad August test gave way to staged closed technical tests followed by the October public test. A12 A05 A04
Analysis
The timeline explains why ARDEM benefits from a source-date discipline. Search results and community discussions can easily mix old robot/AI material, older map details, newer pandemic lore and future plans. A flat “everything ever said” page would create false contradictions.
Hypotheses
H1 — The October public test begins a new evidence phase. After broad access, historical-development evidence should become less important than direct public-build observation for gameplay claims.
H2 — Additional older material will continue to surface. It should be archived rather than folded into current canon unless Techtive re-confirms it.
FAQ entries
Was ARDEM originally a different game?
Its earlier public alpha material used a substantially different hostile-AI/robot premise. The current RHAB-14 survival setting supersedes it. A14 A15 A01
Was the public playtest always October 15?
No. A March 2026 plan pointed to August 31; later first-party updates changed the strategy to closed testing from late August and a public test on October 15. A12 A04
Have Albington and other towns existed for a while?
Albington appears in 2025 test records and is current again in 2026 development material. Ottsburgh and Port Renlow are historically evidenced but not yet re-confirmed in the current map. A07 A16 A17
Reliability and review dates
Reliability: High for dated first-party 2026 events; high for the existence of historical alpha material, but low for assuming old design details survive today.
Evidence cutoff: 18 September 2026.
Next mandatory review: 15 October 2026 public playtest.
Review triggers: public roadmap, Early Access date, major development retrospective, map rename/removal, product-premise change.
