BlizzCon 2026 — Opening Ceremony

Blizzard Entertainment · 12 September 2026 · Official event video / reveal-event record

Blizzard's full BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony is the durable first-party audiovisual record of the reveal event and contains the STARCRAFT announcement segment. Use it for reveal/stage chronology and attributed audiovisual evidence. It is not gameplay footage, and the presence of a statement or image in the event does not by itself establish every possible gameplay interpretation.

What the cinematic actually shows

The reveal opens as polished Dominion military-recruitment imagery before turning sharply toward the reality of the battlefield.

Doesn't establish: This establishes tone and framing, not the player's allegiance.

The cinematic follows a young Dominion recruit into an overwhelming Zerg attack.

Doesn't establish: The recruit is not established as the playable character.

Zerglings, Mutalisks and an Overlord appear in the reveal; Hay later references those units directly.

Doesn't establish: The sequence is cinematic and does not establish playable combat.
Cinematic detail

Protoss presence in the background

Hay says a Protoss structure is visible in the battlefield background.

Doesn't establish: The structure does not establish Protoss playability or alliance status.
Announcement card

Spring 2030 title card

The reveal closes with STARCRAFT and Blizzard's Spring 2030 target.

Doesn't establish: Spring 2030 is a release target, not an exact date.

Who made the announcement cinematic's music

Finishing Move scored the three-minute announcement cinematic. Blizzard principal music producer Charlotte Pyle also credits Mick Gordon with early thematic work and Derek Duke as music director.

Those are credits for the cinematic, not evidence that Gordon is composing the finished game’s complete score or that the final soundtrack team has been announced.
